Test Results
How and when to obtain test results from the surgery
Getting your test results
We will only usually contact you if your test results are abnormal. We will either text, call or send a letter to inform you about the results or offer you an appointment to discuss further.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your online services account
Please allow at least a week after a blood test for the lab to process the test and your GP to see the result. X-ray results are often available within 2 weeks, but occasionally it may take longer than this.
Questions about your results
Get in touch with the surgery if you want to talk to someone about your results or you are unable to see your results online.
- Contact us online
- Telephone: 01865 597023 between 10am and 2pm, when lines are quiet.
Patient Needs Groups (PNG) - Segmentation
You may have noticed a new test result in your NHS App, referring to Johns Hopkins Adjusted Clinical Groups. The description of the result is "Johns Hopkins clinical groups system score", followed by a number. We are now using this number as part of our segmentation work in Practice.
Segmentation is a simple way of categorising patients based on their specific health needs. It helps us as a practice understand the individual needs of our patients based on their health and wellbeing to support personalised care and ensures you get the right support in a timely way.

Cervical screening results
You can now see some results of a cervical screening online via the NHS App.
If your test result is negative (normal), you’ll receive a message in the NHS App, along with a notification. If you don’t read the message within 3 days or aren’t signed up to the NHS app, a letter will be sent to you in the post as a backup.
If your result shows something that needs further follow-up (an abnormal result), you will still receive this information by letter in the post.
This is part of the NHS's plan to make getting your results quicker and more convenient, while keeping your information safe.
